The Inaugural Issue - Spring 2014
Welcome to the first issue of Chicago Knits Magazine, the only magazine dedicated solely to the Chicago yarn craft scene.
We will be focusing on knitting, crochet, and yarn spinning. In each issue, we'll have interviews with local shop owners, the latest craft book reviews,
yarn and gadget reviews, the patterns for the latest fashion trends, and vintage patterns from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. Plus the best
places to knit in our awesome city!
Our first issue has been out for almost two months and it's doing great! Our reception at YarnCon went very well and we're well on our way to 150+ subscriptions.
The Spring issue has a variety of patterns that appeal to several different types of knitters. Included in this issue:
• Road Warrior Shawl by Lisa Whiting (both knit and crochet)
• Chicago Pride Hat
• Toddler Acorn Hat
• DIY Fingerless Mitts
• Party Girl Shrug (vintage from 1953)
• Skull Earflap Hat
• Quick N' Easy Washcloths (crochet)
• Double Double Beanie (crochet)
• Marcelona Jacket (crochet vintage from 1916)
In addition to the patterns, there are interesting and informative articles on spinning, yarn organization, and an interview with the owner of Sifu Design Studio and Fine Yarns.
